5 Tips For Employee Safety In The Workplace

When you own a business, there are so many moving parts that you have to think of on a daily basis.  One of the biggest: employee safety.  You want to ensure your employees are safe in the workplace and know what to do in the event of an emergency.   Check out our 5 tips below.

1. Cameras

2. Panic/Duress Button

Many businesses such as banks, jewelry stores and gas stations already use panic buttons.  A panic button immediately contacts and dispatches police to your address.  The signal comes in as a “panic” signal, which gives your emergency top priority.  Almost any retail shop can benefit from having a panic button.  It is an extra layer of security to keep your employees safe in case an emergency arises.

3. Life Safety

No matter what type of business you own, always make sure smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are installed and working.  Also, be sure to test your systems regularly and replace the batteries according to manufacturer instructions.

4. Access Control

5. Disaster Plan

Having a disaster plan in place is crucial for your employees.  A detailed disaster plan will outline what to do and where to go in case of a fire, natural disaster or other crisis.  Make sure you not only have a plan in place, but you have reviewed and practiced it with employees.  This is the best way to ensure everyone will be safe, in case an emergency ever arises.
