If you’re reading this, you’ve most likely already made the wise decision to buy a security system for your home.  Congratulations!  If you aren’t there yet, check out these posts from Matson Alarm: Where to Start When Picking Out A Security System and How To Choose A Security Company, which will give you great insight on how to choose the right system for your security needs.

If you’ve already purchased your system, keep reading for a look inside of what is a typical day for a home alarm install.

Before Your Alarm Install …

Your security consultant has taken down all of your information and will begin paperwork processing.  This is usually completed in 1-2 business days.  Our installation manager will then call you to schedule your install appointment.  Mark your calendar and make sure someone who is 18 years or older is present to grant the installation tech access to the home the day of.

If you have pets who are sensitive to loud noises, make a plan to keep them in a separate area of the house, have them visit a pet friend, or plan a little spa day at the pet salon.  That way, they won’t be startled by any loud noises that may result from the installation.

At Matson Alarm, all of our alarm system installation and service technicians are employees of Matson Alarm, not independent contractors.  If you are using a different alarm company, always check to make sure the technicians coming to your house are employees and not independent contractors.

The Day Of …

You will receive and email reminder that your technician is on the way.  Our technicians will arrive in a Matson Alarm van and Matson Alarm uniform.  If you currently have a working system from another company, often times our technicians can use all of the existing equipment and wiring.  Some smaller updates may be made or previously discussed upgrades may be installed.  For example, the technician may install a cellular communicator if your landlines are not compatible with the alarm system, or as an additional path for communication.

The length of installation depends on the size of the project and what kind of system is being installed.  The majority of alarm system installations take about half a day, while larger projects may require more time.

When the installation technician is finished installing your system, they will test the system through our central station to ensure signals are being received.  Then, they will walk you through the features, show you how to arm and disarm your alarm, and answer any other questions you may have.

Once your installation is finished, you are ready to control your home security!  Review the features your technician showed you, teach family members how to use the system, and have peace of mind knowing that you are backed by the Central Valley’s most trusted security company.
